The MA in Screen Media and Innovation is a cutting-edge programme that follows a project-/problem-based learning method. Students learn by crafting meaningful projects that attempt to solve a particular issue.

For our cohort that starts in September 2024, the challenge is to craft screen media solutions that contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (as defined by the United Nations). Thus, the MA in Screen Media and Innovation is best suited for candidates who have previously studied or worked in the fields of media, technology, culture, or social studies.

During the first semester, students will attend contemporary screen media courses before assembling a team to work on their final project for the rest of the program. Tailored micro-courses are taught every semester, focusing on topics such as methods for prototyping, entrepreneurial thinking, AV, and transmedia storytelling.

The MA in Screen Media and Innovation is offered at the Baltic Film, Media, and Arts School (BFM) of Tallinn University. With around 830 students, including 20% of international alumni, BFM is a vibrant and diverse community. BFM has over 70 partner universities in Europe and Asia and is part of FilmEU, a transnational alliance of eight higher film education institutions.
